The Golden Triangle — Delhi, Agra, and Jaipur — is India's most iconic tourist circuit, and for good reason. You get the Taj Mahal, Mughal history, Rajput forts, vibrant bazaars, and incredible food, all within a compact 700 km triangle. Starting from Ghaziabad gives you a strategic advantage — you bypass Delhi's chaotic traffic and hit the Yamuna Expressway faster. And doing it by road in a tempo traveller with your group is the most comfortable, affordable, and flexible way to experience this legendary route.
We've been running Golden Triangle tours from Ghaziabad since 2010, and in this guide, we're sharing everything we've learned — the best itinerary, realistic costs, route tips, and things most travel blogs won't tell you.
The Golden Triangle Route from Ghaziabad
The circuit from Ghaziabad goes like this:
- Ghaziabad → Agra: 200 km via Yamuna Expressway (3 hours). The smoothest highway in India. Access from NH-24/NH-9 connects you quickly to the expressway.
- Agra → Jaipur: 240 km via NH21 through Fatehpur Sikri (4-5 hours). Stop at the Mughal ghost city!
- Jaipur → Ghaziabad: 260 km via NH48 and Delhi-Meerut Expressway (5 hours). One of India's best 6-lane highways.
Total distance: approximately 700 km. Total driving time: 12-14 hours spread over 4-5 days. Very doable, very enjoyable.

Why a Tempo Traveller Is Perfect for the Golden Triangle
Three reasons: convenience, cost, and comfort. You don't have to rush to catch trains, navigate unfamiliar cities in separate taxis, or deal with luggage limits. Your group stays together, the AC keeps everyone cool (Agra and Jaipur can be scorching), and the experienced driver handles parking at busy monument sites where tourists in self-drive cars usually struggle.
Pro Tips from Our Experience
- Visit Taj Mahal at sunrise or right at opening — the crowds multiply after 9 AM.
- The Taj is closed on Fridays. Plan accordingly!
- Don't skip Fatehpur Sikri on the Agra-Jaipur stretch — it's underrated and magnificent.
- In Jaipur, do Amber Fort first thing in the morning before it gets hot.
- Carry cash for monument tickets and street shopping.
- Starting from Ghaziabad, you avoid Delhi's Ring Road traffic entirely — a huge time saver.
